We had a blast performing a live-streaming performance on San Diego Music Wire. Thanks to Roy and David and all at Rarefied Studio Recorders. It’s a beautiful studio and the mic selection and instruments in there are mind boggling. Check it out!

From Chris, “Big Thanks to Vater Drumsticks for the invitation to join their family of endorsers. It’s an honor for sure. I’ve been playing their sticks off and on for many years. It’s an amazing selection these days with all the artist models and cool oddball options. It’s a deep well, if you feel like diving in. I’m digging it!”

Our pals at Owl and Bear posted our show this Saturday at the show to check out in town. Thanks for the support. We are excited to try out some new material at our crusty home away from home.
Montalban Quintet is proud to participate in this year’s San Diego Surf Film Festival. Read about it here in the SD CityBeat. We play on Sat May 11 from 6-7 between some of the screenings. Bird’s Surf Shed is hosting it and it’s worth the price of admission to see all the vintage boards. Amazing!
Thanks to KUCI Radio for rocking Abajo del Mar. Check their show playlist here:

Michael Klayman took some cool shots form the recent Casbah show with the Mattson2 and In Motion Collective. It was a really fun night and it’s great to have a few photos to commemorate the evening. Michael’s stuff is amazing. Check his site here:

Hey! It’s been a while, sorry for not reporting in before now. Montalban Quintet has been lying low for the recent past as keyboardist Chris Fulford-Brown has been off galavanting in Europe with Three Mile Pilot and the other Chris (Prescott) has also been on tour in Europe with Pinback. We are a busy bunch.
With more touring in front of us individually we had planned on breaking until March, but… we couldn’t wait to get cooking again.
So… new show coming up in a couple weeks. Montalban Quintet at the mighty Casbah on Jan 10 as a part of the Casbah Anniversary Month. 24 years this year. Man-o-man. I remember when they opened and I was still in high school. A true San Diego music institution.
On another note, we have begun the recording of the follow up to our 2010 debut self-titled CD. It’s in its early stages but the songs are distinctly more rocking than the first. Too soon to tell where the sound will end up.
Thanks for checking in.
